Sharing a folder in Google Drive is easy but it is also easily overlooked. Most people share their files and folders by putting in the email addresses of those they want to share with. What if more and more people need access to that same folder through the course of a web design project? Rather than having to continuously add people to the folder, you can create a link. Here’s how to do it:

  • Create the folder you want to share in Google Drive. For this example, I used a folder labeled “Folder A123”.

  • Click on the folder to select it and then click the Sharing icon (like you normally would to share a folder).

Step 1 to share a folder in Google Drive using a link

    .

  • Rather than entering an email address, click the option below beginning with “Change link”.

Step 2 to share a folder in Google Drive using a link

    .

  • Change this setting to the option labeled “Anyone with the link”.

Step 3 to share a folder in Google Drive using a link

    .

  • Done! Now all you have to do is click the “Copy link” button and then you can paste your link in an email to the team members you want to share with.

Step 4 to share a folder in Google Drive using a link

    .

No one will be able to access the folder without going directly to that specific link.
